Basic concepts and terminology. Attacks: viruses, worms, Trojan horses, denial of service attacks. User authentication. Access control. Security of cultural information systems and databases. Internet security: digital certificates and digital signatures, cryptography (asymmetric vs. symmetric cryptography, Caesar’s algorithm, systems of public-private key, Diffee-Hellman, SSL). Firewalls. Intellectual rights protection: watermarking. Operating systems security: attacks, security mechanisms, trust systems. Network security. Trust management systems. Trust management in distributed multimedia networks. Applications. Legal concepts concerning protection of personal data. Survey of current research papers.
