Settlements of the past in contemporary urban landscapes

The course examines the successive architectural layers in modern urban landscapes, as they shape the city image in its chronological and cultural continuity and discontinuity. Specific examples are considered, taking into account issues such as the conception and understanding of the past through architecture, the contribution of monuments to the construction of collective and individual identities, as well as ways of managing important monuments and complexes today.
